In-person counselling in Waterdown

A place to pause.
Time for you.

Meet with your therapist at our Waterdown clinic. We’ll help you know where to go and what to expect before your appointment.

New to therapy?

Here’s what beginning can look like.

The process has a structure, but it is not set in stone. We begin by understanding why you are seeking support, then shape the work around your goals, comfort level and life.

01

Get in touch

Self-refer through our short form, email our administrative assistant Liz at counsellinglivewell@gmail.com, or call the practice. We’ll provide an intake form and the information you need before your first appointment.

02

Begin with an assessment

The usual first assessment is 90 minutes. Your therapist takes time to understand the concerns bringing you in and what matters most to you.

03

Make a plan together

Afterward, you’ll receive recommendations for therapy, goals and priority areas. Together, you can choose an approach and pace that fit your circumstances.

There’s room for your whole story.

No issue is off the table. We aim to offer a warm relationship balanced with kind challenge, concrete answers and practical steps for growth. You remain involved in choosing what works for you.

Plan your visit

A conversation online

Choose a private, comfortable spot and a reliable internet connection. Your therapist will explain how to join.

Tell us where you will be located during sessions so we can confirm therapist eligibility and fit.

Ask about online appointments

You set the starting point.

You can ask questions about your therapist’s approach and take time to decide whether it feels right. There is no need to share more in an initial enquiry than you feel comfortable sharing.

Before your first appointment

A few things
you may be wondering.

Do I need to know which therapist to choose?

No. Share a little about what you are looking for and we can help you explore a suitable match. You can also request a particular therapist when you contact us.

What happens after I get in touch?

Liz or your therapist will follow up with an intake form and the information you need before scheduling a first appointment. Sending an enquiry does not book a session or commit you to starting therapy.

Can I meet with someone online?

Online appointments are available with members of our team. Let us know your preference and where you will be located so we can confirm a suitable option.

How much does counselling cost?

Fees depend on the therapist and the type of session. Please ask for the current rate, session length and cancellation terms before booking. You are welcome to mention your budget when you contact us.

Will my benefits cover sessions?

Coverage depends on your plan and the professional designation of your therapist. Check with your insurer before booking, and ask us for the information you need to confirm eligibility.

What should I bring to a first session?

You do not need to prepare a perfect explanation of what is going on. Complete the intake form we provide beforehand. The usual first assessment is 90 minutes, giving your therapist time to understand your concerns and discuss goals and recommendations with you.
